Before the verification process

Ensure that there is ample of lighting and try to place the documents on a dark surface (ideally, a surface that is not shiny or does not reflect light).
Check if the documents meet the following requirements:

The documents were issued by an official, recognized authority (an official governmental authority or institution) and the issuing authority is still in existence or operational (note: in the case of utility bills or the like, the document must contain information showing what utility provider/company issued the document).
The documents are unaltered, fully intact and their content is legible (that means: no damage like smears, paint or missing parts)
Ensure that the documents you wish to submit clearly show the following:
You are, at the time of submission, a resident of the European Union (EU) or resident of the European Economic Area (EEA).
You are, at the time of submission, officially registered at an existing address in the European Union (EU) or in the European Economic Area (EEA).
